Mr March

Lyndon March has spent over two decades working on and around boats, with the majority of his professional life based in the Thames Estuary and East Coast. Since leaving university more than ten years ago, he has made his living entirely within the marine industry, building on a lifetime of practical experience that began at a young age.

Lyndon started his career at the age of 11 as casual crew within the Thames Sailing Barge fleet, where he progressed from crew member to first mate, skipper, and ultimately Skipper and Operations Manager. This period provided an exceptional grounding in seamanship, vessel management, and traditional ship husbandry. In addition to spending well over a hundred days per season at sea, the winter refit periods involved extensive wooden hull repairs, rigging, painting, and engineering problem-solving, fostering a deep understanding of traditional construction and repair techniques.

In 2020, Lyndon broadened his professional focus by joining a traditional boatyard specialising in wooden yachts, where he served as Head Finisher. His role included high-level marine finishing, brightwork restoration, boatbuilding, and operation of the yard’s workboat. During this time, he was instrumental in the rebuild and finishing of three major restoration projects, expanding his expertise from commercial and working craft into classic and traditional yachts.

In 2021, Lyndon established March & Co Marine, providing specialist services in surveying boatbuilding, marine finishing, vessel crewing, consultancy, and project management. Through this business, he has successfully delivered and managed a wide range of complex restoration, refit, and conservation projects across historic vessels, classic yachts, and modern craft.
